Global Climate Initiatives Inspire Local Action in Riverside

As global climate initiatives gain momentum, Riverside is actively participating by hosting events that address environmental challenges and promote sustainability.

Inland Empire Sustainability Summit

On April 8, 2026, the Riverside Convention Center hosted the inaugural Inland Empire Sustainability Summit. This regional event brought together leaders, policymakers, innovators, and changemakers to discuss sustainability through collaboration, education, and actionable solutions tailored to the Inland Empire region.

Extreme Heat Summits

Recognizing the increasing threat of extreme heat, Riverside has organized multiple summits to address this issue. The 2025 Extreme Heat Summit, held on September 12, 2025, at the California Air Resources Board, focused on understanding the impact of extreme heat on human health and the environment, building local resilience, and discovering innovative solutions. Additionally, the 2026 Inland Empire Heat Convening took place on March 27, 2026, at Stewarts Boathouse, providing a platform for regional actors to collaborate on extreme heat challenges and solutions.

Water Infrastructure Networking Summit

Riverside also participated in the Water Infrastructure Networking Summit (WINS), an initiative spanning five counties, including Riverside. This event aimed to foster a new era of politics in water management, address critical needs, and explore funding opportunities for regional water and wastewater infrastructure.

Through these initiatives, Riverside demonstrates its commitment to aligning with global climate efforts by implementing local actions that address environmental challenges and promote sustainability.
